Psalm 40: 1-10 I will sing a new song.

We are often called to give up something for Lent, a practice of penitence and discipline. It has been suggested by one member of our congregation that perhaps this year we could work towards eliminating negative thinking. One of the ways that we might achieve this, which has been suggested by another member of our congregation, is through the practice of Holy Manners. A past United Church Moderator, Marion Pardy, said: “The church needs to practice holy manners. We are called to be gentle, patient and compassionate with one another”. As we journey with Jesus during Lent, what cross will we take up and carry and with what spirit will we do this? The spirit of negativity or the spirit of love and understanding?
