In a recent interview on CBC Radio, Senator Nicole Eaton said, “I don’t think that churches should take political stands. I think they should be more about helping people and giving people succour.” What is the place of faith in the public arena? What is the role of church members in the political process? We will explore the scriptures as well as the Moderator’s response to this statement of the role of church and state and consider the role of prophecy in our world and our response as a church to Jesus’ proclivity towards rebellious actions and call for change and reconciliation.
