In the Ephesians reading, Paul raises the question of Christian unity and finds the answer in Christ as “head of the body”. Similarly, in the John reading, Jesus, engaging the “works and faith” conversation, focuses attention on belief in the one God sent — Christ again. Within our own hearts, and among the church communities of the world, the centrality of Christ is the key to wholeness, to “breaking down the walls that divide.”
