According to John’s version of the gospel, Jesus ministry begins with a wedding that has run out of wine. The Psalmist speaks of feasting on the abundance of God’s house. The prophet speaks of the bridegroom rejoicing over the bride. Life seems to lose its joy and beauty at times, but in this new-born presence of God in Christ the wine is replenished and the celebration proceeds.
