As we begin the season of lent we are invited to enter a ritual of deep contemplation and reflection by looking into a mirror, and by looking through the window at the reality in which we live. We will begin to contemplate the question, “In what ways have we experienced the wilderness and where have we experienced God’s faithfulness in the wilderness?” Like Jesus we are tempted, tempted to go back to what is familiar, back to our old ways. We want to acknowledge and honour our past, but in the wilderness we are on a journey to the future. When we look through the window what do we see?
