Materialism and consumerism frequently leads us on a path which leaves us wanting more, never feeling we have enough, it leads us on the path that King Ahab found himself on – the path of greed. King Ahab and Jezebel go too far in meeting their own desires. The gospel lesson shows us an alternative path, a path of giving, a path of sharing, a path of compassion and justice where the Holy Spirit is at work, where giving with abundance leads to a path of fulfillment, love, healing and wholeness. It’s time to find the balance where what we have is enough and life is just right.
