Sowing seeds in our neighbourhood with abundance

Genesis 25:19-34 Esau and Jacob
Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23 Parable of the sower

Tom Long writes: “The Church is called to ‘waste itself’ to throw grace around like there is no tomorrow.” The parable of the sower calls us to stop over thinking, and over planning, and procrastinating and simply start scatters seeds of love and acceptance in our neighbourhood. We need to take our statement of welcome and inclusion into our neighbourhood, without seeking reward for our toil, and not as a clever device on getting what we think we need, i.e. more butts in the pews. It is time to throw caution to the wind and see where the seeds fall and witness God at work amongst us.
