Gods of Gold
The presence of the Sacred in the midst of life is so elusive and yet so challenging people have tried to forge it in gold or nail it to a tree. For their foolishness, God would condemn, but Moses and Jesus both mediate on behalf of the people to persuade God to relent from condemnation. Truly to live consciously is to engage the Sacred presence honestly and to stop taking God’s forgiveness for granted.
