We are reminded that nothing is impossible with God. Mary’s story takes us through a series of emotional responses that many people go through when God calls on them to play their part in God’s mission. Mary is perplexed, afraid, thoughtful, honored by this announcement. In these scriptures Mary questions her vocation, then she accepts and believes, and then she responds with the words “Here am I, the servant of the Lord.” Like most of us when God nudges us, calls us, leads us, drags us, Mary is stunned and struggles to understand how this could be? Why me? God’s announcement of the birth of Jesus – love incarnate moves each and every one of us. Let us respond to this announcement of love with an open and ready heart. view
