Do the ends justify the means?

Genesis 24: 1-4, 10-21
Rebekah – when we first encounter Rebekah we are struck by her courage, her faith, her beauty, her kindness and her hospitality. She becomes Isaac’s wife and lands herself in a very dysfunctional family. By the end of Rebekah’s story, she is seen as deceitful and a liar. It appears that Rebekah uses questionable means to achieve divine ends, but do the ends justify the means? Is she really one of the bad girls of the bible? How do we know that we have discerned the will of God? Will we make good choices, or will our circumstances effect our judgement?
