Genesis 18:1–15; 21:1–7 • Isaac born to Sarah
When Sarah hears that she is to bear a child in her old age she laughs. Laughter can express many things: derision or desdain, as well as humour or joy. The birth of a child can mean many things: family, fulfilment, promise, victory, acceptance, redemption. So Isaac is born to Sarah, and the story continues.
