Today we hear stories of Hope “against hope.” In the face of discouragement: “don’t bother him”—don’t get your hopes up. Maybe the primary message about Hope is how to get past all the discouragement. Perhaps even “eyes raised too high” is a source of discouragement—true hope is not arrogant; to “calm and quiet our soul” is foundational for living hope. There is hope, but sometimes we do not see it: what obstructs our view?
