The Gospel movement begins to encounter its resistance, facing rejection and brutality. The manner of John’s death was an indictment against the reigning powers of the time—powers that were beginning to tremble in the face of Sacred Power. So even today, in the face of rampant evil in our world, we cultivate and deepen our trust in the power of God who is with us.
