John 11: 1-44 Jesus Weeps
Anthropologists ponder when in the social development of the human being did we become truly “human” – different from other mammals. Many point to the early rituals and rites of passage humans used to mark our journey in relationship to age, community, birth and death. One thing that unites humans is the universal seeking for meaning and safety. Rituals and rites of passage help us transition from child to adult to elder, from dependent to independent and from life to life after death. We will be exploring today how we see these in Jesus’ life, especially as he began his journey towards death.
