Advent One (Hope)
Scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 3:9-13 and Luke 21:25-36
Let me ask you a question. What would you do to mark this holy time of preparation for Christmas if nothing was expected this year – no gifts or decorations, no big meal or travel? Asked another way what would you do to celebrate how much God loves us? Jesus calls us to beware of the squandering of money, energy and resources on things that do not build up the loving community. Paul writes that we can thank God by allowing God to increase our love for one another and all. So let us ponder how Jesus came to us…naked! How can we come to Jesus free and open?
