Being Christian means that we are called to rise up against oppression and to participate in the work of reconciliation. We are called to combat oppression and unequal power dynamics. As Christians, we lament the state of the world and long for justice. We acknowledge that individually, in some aspects of our lives we may experience marginalization and lack of power, while in other aspects of our lives we have privilege and power. Ending oppression and doing the work of reconciliation starts with API – Assuming Positive Intent and recognizing that not everyone comes in with the same set of experiences and knowledge, so we need to assume that people have good intent when entering awkward conversations. Let’s avoid being a clanging cymbal and instead gently share words of kindness and love.
This was a Whole Family Worship, so there was no formal sermon.
