We are called to follow Jesus who has been described as light for the world. However, in the Bible, God is both in the light and in the cloudy darkness, both in the struggles for justice and joys of freedom. How has the limitation of metaphors for Christ limited who we listen to when seeking wisdom of Christ? How can one struggle against the blinding light of privilege? How can one best listen to the wisdom of the tortured, enslaved and terrorized – whose skin is so predominately dark?
