Have you ever felt invisible, like nobody noticed you were there? For probably the first time in this Samaritan’s woman’s life, someone saw her for who she was! Jesus not only saw her, but asked for her help and for a drink of water. Jesus dared to face social persecution by doing this. He crossed boundaries of religion, ethnicity and gender. Spiritual friends look past our differences and are present to us without agenda, without a need to fix things. What Jesus offers the Samaritan woman is acceptance and love that surpasses our past, our mistakes, and our foibles. Will you drink of the life giving water that Jesus offers?
