The role of the church is transforming. In this shifting liminal time the work of advocacy no longer fits. Rev. Susan Beaumont suggests that in liminal times we need to move from advocating to attending. Advocating lives out of certainty and in these changing times there is a distinct lack of that. Like the Israelites who were given new rules to live by, as a faith community we are being given a new mandate too. Before we can advocate again we need to become fully awake to all that is happening. We need to listen deeply and see the truth of what is happening in our world. The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
