Luke 1:68-79 • Zechariah sings, “Blessed be the God of Israel.”
Luke 3:1-6 • A voice calling in the desert.
I wonder if we will ever be prepared for what God has in store for us? Imagine how you would react if God surprised you? I think many of us can identify with Zechariah’s response of disbelief when he hears of the pending birth, but to be rendered mute might be even more surprising. How would our perspective change if we were not able to speak and instead were forced to listen for a prolonged period of time? How can silence prepare us for the coming of Christ? In order to glimpse Christ, we need to create space for our creative power to imagine ourselves as a beloved child of God. That is our task on this second week of Advent.
