We as humans are extremely sensitive to signs of danger. Fear can be a powerful way of rallying people for good–or for ill. If a person or group can convince others that they have to be afraid of something or someone, they have considerable power over them and can more easily rally them to commit acts disproportionate to dealing with any real danger. God has in mind something beyond our fear. How do we listen for it? Are we open to it?
