Psalm 32 • Blessed are those whose sins are forgiven.
Matthew 4:1-11 • Jesus tempted in the desert.
The story of Jesus being tempted in the desert is one that inspires us, and challenges us. Can we be as strong as Jesus when faced with a choice that either trusts in God or leads to satisfying our human desires? The wilderness and the garden of Eden are places of struggle. Temptation, as defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is “to entice or to do wrong by promise of pleasure or gain.” Adam and Eve were enticed by the serpent, and Jesus was enticed by the devil. How does the practice of wisdom, and the practice of discernment help us make choices that lead us to God rather than away? How will we seek to resist evil and live in love and justice?
