We live in a complex and dynamic world. As followers of Jesus we are called to acknowledge and proclaim that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. In some parts of the world this proclamation has led to the persecution of Christians, as Stephen (in the passage from Acts) was. In other places this proclamation has led to Christians being the persecutors of others. History tells us that the Puritans created closed communities which did not tolerate the presence of non-Puritans. They came to “Worship God in their own way, and make others do the same.” How can we faithfully proclaim Jesus in our world today?
