Mark 8:27-9:8 • Peter’s confession, and the Transfiguration.
Best Picture Nominated Movie: Barbie
Continuing a Robertson-Wesley tradition, on Sunday, February 11, the sermon will look at the scripture reading of the day with an Oscar-nominated movie in mind. The scripture passages today explore questions of identity. Who is Jesus? Who are we? Who does Jesus say that he is? Who does Jesus say that we are? The Barbie movie explores this theme as well, as Barbie has an existential crisis. Barbie asks the question whether her life has meaning, purpose or value. Jesus calls the disciples to reflect on the role of Jesus and their purpose in God’s kin-dom. What will the story of Transfiguration reveal about Jesus? What will Barbie’s journey into the real world reveal about who she is and her existence?
