On the last Sunday of the liturgical year the passages explore the nature of God’s power, and invites readers to reflect on the nature of power and of powerlessness. How do leaders use power? How does Jesus use power? This is a day when we honour God’s covenant, and when we place our hope in God. Brené Brown states that “research shows that hope is a powerful antidote to despair.” In a world where many are experiencing a feeling of despair, Jesus shows us that there is still hope, there is a path for us to follow that will lead to transformation.
